Erin Alice'a Peters graced this world on June 18, 1996, born in El Paso, Texas, to the loving embrace of Errol Alvarez Peters and Dena Smith Peters at William Beaumont Army Medical Center in Fort Bliss. From an early age, Erin displayed an unwavering determination and a profound love for reading, choosing books over recess and P.E., setting the stage for her remarkable journey. Growing up in Metairie, Louisiana, she attended Marie Riviere Elementary and soon transferred to Metairie Academy for Advanced Studies, where her intellectual brilliance flourished. Throughout her middle and high school years at Haynes Academy for Advanced Studies, Erin not only excelled academically but also discovered her passion for basketball, a sport she devotedly pursued from age five until the 12th grade.
Despite encountering unexpected challenges, Erin's indomitable spirit never wavered. Advised by physicians to step away from basketball due to sustained concussions, she redirected her energy into making a positive impact within her school community. As an influential member of the Haynes Academy yearbook staff, Vice President of the Student Council, a dedicated Key Club contributor, and President of the National Honor Society, Erin exemplified leadership and inclusivity. Notably, she founded Haynes Academy's first African-American club, leaving a lasting legacy of empowerment.
Erin's academic achievements were nothing short of extraordinary, maintaining a remarkable 4.7 GPA and displaying fluency in Spanish. Graduating Summa Cum Laude on May 10, 2014, she caught the attention of Tulane University, earning a well-deserved scholarship. Following in the footsteps of her mother, a respected Tulane graduate, Erin embraced the opportunity to pursue a future in Political Science with aspirations of making a difference through a career in law. Throughout her time at Tulane, she not only achieved academic excellence but also actively contributed to campus life, serving as Vice President of Omicron Psi Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and as an ambassador for the Office of Multicultural Affairs. She also devoted herself to the Reily Recreation Center on Tulane's campus, impacting the lives of
others.

In the wake of her untimely passing, the Erin Peters' Memorial Scholarship stands as a testament to her brilliance, exemplary leadership, and boundless spirit. May her legacy continue to inspire us all, perpetuating her passion for learning and service, and ensuring that her impact on the world remains eternal.
